Policy

The Organisation, through its Programs and Services, seeks to provide one-to-one and group support, assistance, advocacy, counselling, information and education for individuals and families who are in need of assistance and to maintain strict confidentiality at all times. The objectives of the services are to:

  • assist the person(s) in difficulty to seek and hopefully:
  • acquire sufficient knowledge regarding the situation in order to enable the person(s) to decide priority and importance of needs;
  • be provided with information regarding options available for solutions, e.g. advocacy, material assistance, counselling, education, etc.;
  • be empowered to make decisions on the best course of action;
  • gain appropriate life skills and knowledge;
  • give support and provide advocacy when sought and appropriate; and
  • provide a service that the client can afford.
  • undertake an educational role within the community by:
  • raising community awareness with respect to difficulties, needs and problems faced by families;
  • providing information about community resources available, and making referrals where necessary.
  • co-operate and liaise with community groups of similar interest and concerns by:
  • maintaining links with other services for the benefit of individuals, families and groups;
  • constantly updating our knowledge of services offered by other organisations which may assist our clients when making appropriate referrals;
  • collating data and conferring with similar organisations with a view to affecting legislation and community attitudes;
  • promoting activities, where appropriate, that service the client's secondary need, i.e. sports and recreation, that are socially supportive to the full rehabilitation of the family.
