Melbourne Cup Day at Ashman Grove   This was a fantastic Australian Cultural day was enjoyed by a large number of residents at Ashman Grove. The day began with the drawing of the 9 sweeps. The Activity room was filled with excitement as the horses were drawn from the hat.   A fantastic luncheon was followed in the blue Dining Room of pies, pasties, spring rolls, dim sims and, cold meat and salad platters. After ice-cream for dessert, it was back into the Pink Activity Room for an afternoon of Horse Fun. Games enjoyed was the popular staff and relatives ‘Hobby Horse Race’ which was won by Arvin – who apparently cheated. All participants were given a prize for good sportsmanship.  Several games of Horse Racing Bingo were played while a feast of chips, cheezels and champagne was enjoyed. The big race was full of disappointments for some, and delight for others. Either way, everyone had a wonderful time.   |
